For such a small country, there are actually a whole variety of locations in England, Wales or Scotland to visit. My favourite are the ‘Themed’ coach holidays that are on offer.  Like the Emmerdale & Last of the Summer Wine coach tours where you get to visit the beautiful and scenic views

You get to tour around Esholt and Emmerdale country (Yorkshire) as well as the historic villages of Haworth and Holmfirth, more popular than ever now even though the TV show has been taken off air after many years.

Using coaches for holidays aren’t just convenient and fun – they’re also environmentally friendly. A coach carries far more people than one car could, occupying less amount of space on the road as well as producing less carbon emissions.

Coaches are also cheaper. Going away by coach will often work out a lot cheaper than travelling by car.  Not only that, but have you ever wondered how much money you pay out on car parks during the course of a week’s holiday?   Using coach tours also means that you are not causing extra wear and tear on the family car.  A holiday will normally amount to many miles of travel in addition to a lot of fuel.

Many of us are already trying to use our cars for fewer journeys.  If only ten families were to travel by coach instead of car to their holiday destination, then that would mean nine fewer vehicles on the road.   We can all make a huge difference to our environment if we only take time to think.  There are so many ways that we can go about reducing our carbon footprints and going away by coach is one of them.

Why has coach trips suddenly grown in popularity? Here are 3 reasons:

1. Great range of choices

At one time, coaches did not go to a great many places.  If you were planning on having a holiday and you did not want to travel by car then you would only have a very limited choice of destinations.  However, times really have changed in the world of coach travel and there are now all kinds of journeys to choose from; and you will not only be restricted to England either. Many coaches make regular trips to Ireland, Scotland, Wales and several parts of mainland Europe for a combined coach and .  You can go on a long holiday or a short break and choose to travel far away or to stay closer to home.

2. Comfort & Peace of mind

Worried about plane travel? Does the thought of being shut in a large metal tube suspended in the sky give you the chills? Come down to earth with a coach trip. The coaches of today are a world away from their ancestors and boast many modern luxuries.  When you book a journey, you can look forward to having the comfort of a reclining seat, a seatbelt for added safety and a good quality air conditioning system.  Most modern vehicles will also have proper toilet facilities on board, so you will not have to worry about being uncomfortable on a long journey.

3. Convenience

It might be easier enough to just hop into the car when you want to get away, but there are a lot of things to think about.  Things aren’t so bad if your partner can drive because you can swap over after a few hours on the road.  But if you are the only driver in the family then it can actually be a very tiring experience.  When you finally arrive at your destination you will often not have the energy to do very much at all until the next day.  A long and boring drive leaves a lot of people feeling very drained; that is without mentioning having to listen to the kids bickering in the back seat for most of the trip. Leave the stress to a professional and kick back to relax on your holiday!

Autumn is a great time to go away simply because there are so many wonderful colours to see!  Even if your journey is restricted to main roads, then you will still find a beautiful array of red, gold, amber and bronze.  If our seasons were royal ceremonies, then autumn would have to be the ‘Trooping of the Colour’. Anyone who is a fan of Bram Stoker will want to visit Whitby.  The author of what is considered by most to be ‘the daddy of all horror novels’ spent several years in the Yorkshire fishing town.  Stoker drew a large amount of inspiration from Whitby for his book based on much of the story around the area; the highlight of this being the arrival of Dracula in the harbour. ‘When I was a kid, I didn’t like school very much, but I always enjoyed our ‘field trips’.  I can remember our year going off to Alton Towers and we also spent the day in London visiting The Natural History Museum and The Tate Gallery.  It was really exciting stuff; even if we were going somewhere that sounded downright boring.  Why?  Because it gave us all a day off school!
